TEAM REGISTRATION PROCESS
OPTION 1
BLUE CHIP PREFORMED TEAMS
Coaches that play with teams in Blue Chip uniforms that want to bring a preformed group of more than 4 players will be automatically classified as competitive and if they have a roster of less than 10 they will be assigned players through the Blue Chip draft who have asked to play competitively.

So based on the number of overall individual players registered and waiting to be placed on teams, a team roster may be 8-12 players.

To register a team this way the Coach should have their players register on the site as an INDIVIDUAL player and during registration when asked:
Are you part of a preformed team? Select Yes
Type coaches name: Put Coach's last name
The coach should also email their roster with the subject line "Preformed Team Roster" to [email protected]

OPTION 2
FOR FULLY FORMED TEAMS/CLUBS WITH THEIR OWN NON-BLUE CHIP UNIFORMS
The coach should email with the subject line "Outside preformed team" to [email protected] to receive details on club team acceptance, cost and getting the team code to register their players for proper age/grade verification.

Outside preformed teams are automatically considered competitive and for any AAU/Tournament type teams, if we do not have enough to form a division of at least 4 fully competitive in their age group, may play a division or two up.

RECREATIONAL DIVISION VS COMPETITIVE DIVISION REWARDS

(League rewards are Recreational by default. Competitive divisions will form based on the registration composition and formation of enough competitive players/teams to form a truly competitive division of 4 or more teams. (Fully Competitive Division definition is: minimum of 6 teams of 8+ age/grade verified competitive players.) If there is not a fully formed competitive division then rewards will default to the Recreational level.

Recreational Division Champions will receive a team trophy.

Competitive Division Champions will receive a team trophy, player medals and at least one of the following; championship ring, player trophies or Blue Chip Champion Shooting Shirts actual reward mix will be at the discretion of the league directors. If a championship team returns at least 80% of their players for the following season those players will receive a 50% off registration Champions code.

Our League Directors' goal is to have all divisions be balanced and all games to be as close as possible, especially in the 8-14U age group. We ultimately want to foster the love of the game of basketball with all players of all skill levels.

But the reality is... that this is an extremely competitive league and although we ask all coaches to give fair playing time to their players based on their practice attendance and team contribution our teams are playing to win and this is not a pay to play league. All players, parents and coaches should be prepared to handle competitive play and the potential to win or lose by a significant margin and still maintain a high level of sportsmanship. Even the NBA, which is structured for team parity, often has blowouts.

If you or your player are not able to emotionally handle winning and losing at any margin and your player is under 10U you should sign them up for our BC Ballers basketball development program.

Older players that don't want to play competitively should sign up for one of the other great basketball programs in the area which are less competitive.

This division is currently in a waitlist format, so registrants will not be charged until the minimum number of teams are formed. Based on the level of interest, if possible, we will form the most balanced divisions we can and/or we will have tryouts/evaluations of the individual registrants

Blue Chip Elite Option
Blue Chip has started an Intense Development Player Training Pool for Girls which is modelled after our successful boys program. currently has about 18-20 11-15yr olds practicing in the gym weekly year-round, to eventually form girls AAU competitive teams to represent Blue Chip in local and regional tournaments.

If you have a player interested in participating in the Intense Development Player Pool please submit your player information here:

ADDITIONAL LEAGUE INFORMATION

Players and Coaches
Players enter the league through multiple paths, typically as part of a fully formed team, a partially formed team who completes their roster through the Blue Chip Draft and as an individual who will attend a filmed evaluation session which becomes part of the coaches Blue Chip Player Draft process.

Blue Chip Jr NBA League teams typically have a mix of volunteer, staff and club coaches. So practices are at their discretion. Coaches typically practice at least 1 hour a week at an outdoor court that they secure. Some coaches may like to hold practice several times a week and sometimes may provide options to secure indoor gym space.

Players serious about basketball,
often starting on teams who finish last in their divisions, but who work hard on their skills and improve as they progress over multiple seasons may get invites to join a team, get a higher draft placement in subsequent season or could be invited to tryout for the Blue Chip Elite Intense Player Pool Development Program for players who want to take a path to eventually play on our AAU travel squads.
